A lovely spring-like day

Posted by knitforpeace on February 9, 2008

Last evening when I took the dog out to the garden we heard a blackbird sing. Lovely, so lovely, but oh so wrong in February. Back in December when Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize, lots of people were asking what the environment has to do with peace. So for those who couldn’t get their heads around it, I offer this. Look at it this way. Nations wage war over (1) territory; (2) natural resources; (3) ethnic/religious “cleansing”. If we can gain control over our squandering of natural resources, if we can see to it that there will be enough clean water, enough land for everyone to live on, enough food for everyone to eat, don’t we remove at least two of those irritants?

I cast on the maroon sweater last night. img_0254_1.jpg

B thinks that it should be a cardigan, but I don’t know, maybe a tunic with a low v-neck. That edging (from Knitting On the Edge–seed stitch for 6 rows than give the left needle a 360 degree twist every 6 stitches while you continue in seed stitch) is so ladylike and pretty that even though it’s an aran weight yarn, it could be graceful if I give the tunic enough shape at the waist. What do you think? I figure I’ll do the back and then decide.
