I just had a great lunch, leftovers from last night’s dinner. I chopped up a locally produced chorizo sausage from Gutechark, sauteed it in a pot, tossed in some cooked black-eyed peas and a good shake of ketchup and voila, franks and beans รก la Gotland.
If more people could eat leftovers for lunch, we’d have more peace. The World Food Programme Hunger Map is sobering stuff. And as I click my way down the hotspots list, I find that many of the food crises in these places are due to war or civil unrest. As if I couldn’t have guessed.
One of the ways to peace is to realize that we all want the same things. Number one – enough nourishing food for our children and ourselves, our friends and our neighbors, and their children and their friends and their neighbors and so on and so on and so on.
Welcome unique New York (say that 10 times fast) to the map!
