Olympic moment

Posted by knitforpeace on February 13, 2008

I always look forward to the Olympics. In the winter I like to watch ice skating, the shooting and skiing thing, and curling (yes, curling, the sport where the women athletes wear makeup and diamonds). During the summer I love gymnastics and track & field, particularly the high jumping–lithe young folks flying over impossibly high bars, floating free. This year, though, I’m going to have to boycott the Olympics. Hosting games of peace and international cooperation, in light of China’s atrocious human rights record , isn’t all that different from Berlin’s hosting in 1936.

Too bad, knitting to the Olympics is a singular pleasure.
